Recently several members of Iron Workers Local 725 went down to Matthew Halton High School, in Pincher Creek, to participate in Exponential Learning Week put on by the school.
The kids were split into 3 groups, so they could see all different aspects of iron working. They were treated all different aspects of iron working, including a simulator for the windmills, how to rescue someone if the base catches on fire.
The students even earned two tickets, that certified them for some of the skills and knowledge learned during the week.
Kris Chambers, assistant apprenticeship coordinator, said “The attitude in these kids is phenomenal. They’re eager, they want to go to work, and they’re asking about work.”
